In progress Sgraffito.

This piece means a lot more to me than it seems I have always wanted to do a Mayan piece but didn't want to just do anything. So i looked into the Gods and Goddesses of Mayan Tales and picked Ix Chel , goddess of the moon.
This process has been easy so far, the concern for the details soon went away when I started carving. I hope all goes well when it gets fired and that it does not crack.

Rice soup and the Greek vase

Sgraffito:a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, typically done in plaster or stucco on walls, or in slip on ceramics before firing.
Registers: they divide the story represented in the pottery.
The vase we worked on in art class was a Pelike vase we chose at random.
The vase was typically used for storing liquids such as wine, oil and or water.
On this project I worked on the figure of the vase and on some of the registers.

Tree of Death installation project

This tree was the death of us for three weeks straight, something about sculpting with cardboard is completely mind numbing (sorry Suds!). None the less we managed to complete it, my table of people who are obviously smarter than me made the base of the tree, the most important part if you ask us. I assisted in cutting out the pieces and making the platform which just ended up being discarded in the end.
If this were my project I would've taken it in a totally different direction, the base would be the same but I would make the foliage more cohesive , and maybe add a bit more color.

The Quorra paper sculpture

This piece has given me such a hard time I do not even know how to finish it, most of my struggles rise from the facial structure specifically the nose, eyes, and lips ( not featured here). I have glued on layers and layers of strips of hair, which I still have to cut, I do not think I realized what I was getting myself into.
I hope to finish this soon and be able to update on the final project but for now this is it.

Mini paper sculpture

This has been one of the easier projects we have made in this class the tricky part was not being able to cut any pieces out to make it something different . I like the different textures and the way it bends in certain directions when you turn it on different angles it looks like a different piece.

Styrogami

This project required a lot of thinking outside of the box, how do you take a Styrofoam cup and make it something completely different? I have been reading this book titled "Trip to the stars" and the main character Enzo visits a planetarium. This for me gave the idea for this solar system styrogami. The most difficult part believe it or not was actually making the orbits everything else was quite easy.

The cardboard fairy and unicorn blues

As this cardboard tree of life is coming into fruition I have to admit I was quite bored of everything. something about working with cardboard is so uninteresting to me so as I sat there craning my brain for any possible ideas, I suddenly remembered that scene from pixie hollow and suddenly a fairy was born in my imagination so worked for 45 min straight. it was quite challenging at first but never as challenging as this whole unicorn concept I decided to pull off a couple of days later. Thing is i'm not too good with animals, I purposely steer clear of them and here I am putting my time and work into it wish me luck!
